Cheshire West and Chester Fostering

Become a foster carer with Cheshire West and Chester Council and change a child’s future

There is a local and national drive to recruit more foster carers to look after the increasing number of children in care. Cheshire West and Chester Council urgently need people to be assessed to become foster carers. They particularly need families to look after children over five years old, siblings, teenagers and children with additional needs.

People from various backgrounds become foster carers.  You don’t necessarily need experience of working with children, just a willingness to learn and a spare bedroom in your home.

The Council provides full training during the application process including information about the different foster placements that children need.  It’s then up to you to choose the type of foster placement you want to offer.  This could be a short-term placement for a number of weeks or months or a longer term placement where a child or young person may stay with you until they become an adult.  Some foster carers also offer respite care where a child or young person may stay with them on a regular basis for just a few days to give their main carer a break.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s fostering team offers excellent support both throughout the assessment process and once you become approved as a foster carer. They also offer all their foster carers a competitive financial package.
