Fair Trade Fortnight

Start: 22nd Feb 2021 12:00pm

Duration: 2 weeks

Fairtrade fortnight is a very important event in the KSJ calendar.  In usual times our school council would lead this week and work with our friends at And Albert who were based in Chester for 24 years before moving to an online only organisation.

Clicking on the Fairtrade image at the top of the page will take you to the fair trade website.

This year the theme is Climate, Fairtrade and Me

What’s Fairtrade? Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.

By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade tackles the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the most vulnerable. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

With Fairtrade you have the power to change the world every day. With simple shopping choices you can get farmers a better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their future and lead the dignified life everyone deserves.

Our friends at The local coop celebrate fairtrade too and will always help yo to choose the most sustainable produces and most ethically sourced ingredients.
