Interfaith week

On the week beginning 9th February Kingsley St John’s CE Primary School had a special week of learning.

The school welcomed a range of visitors from different religions to share their experiences of their faith.  Together the children have learnt about all different faiths in a very focused and valuable manner.

The special focus week was organised by RE Co-ordinator,

Mrs Jean Cowell and Keith Ryecroft from the West Cheshire Inter-Faith Forum.  The week saw visitors from religions including: Christian, Humanism, Quaker, Buddism, Baha’i, Judaism and Islam.  Throughout the learning the children made important evaluations of the similarities and differences between the religions and also focused on the unity of humankind to honour and respect difference and diversity.

The week culminated in a special assembly to bring together the learning and reflect upon the rich and positive diversities in society.

The assembly also welcomed some of the faith visitors from the week and parents were involved in sharing the learning.

Headteacher, Rachel Jones said

“I cannot speak highly enough regarding the quality of learning that has taken place during this week.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the learning opportunities and it was a privilege to take part in the focused learning week.”
