Let's Create!

The following are a few ideas you might want to try at home, I will keep posting here as and when new projects come up, stay safe and get arty!

Extend the picture

Class 4 tried this using illustrations from their class text working alongside their writing in English, there are more examples to the left.

  • Choose a picture that you like, this can be from scanned from a book, printed from the internet, cut from magazines and newspapers, or even an old photograph.
  • Stick the picture in the middle of some drawing paper.
  • Use whatever medium you like or have to hand to extend the picture, continuing what's already there and then adding more.  You could try to add what would be there in reality, or use your imagination to create something out of this world!

No Peeking!

  • Cut a piece of card and slot it over your pencil, this will stop you from seeing what you are drawing!
  • Choose and object
  • Draw the object without taking your pencil off the paper or peeking under the card

This is really tricky! We are so used to being able to look at what we are doing, this is a great way to link hand eye co-ordination, you might just be surprised at the results.

Drawing by touch

  • Get someone to choose a small object for you to draw
  • Put the hand you do not write with behind your back
  • The other person hands you the object without letting you see and then you must draw it by touch.
  • Really try to feel all the detail and put it into your drawing, then have a look, how close were you?
